Obituary for Albert Glenn “Al” Cheek RICHMOND, Ind. – Albert Glenn “Al” Cheek, age 71, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 2, 1947, in London, Kentucky, to Willie and Sally Gregory Cheek, Al was a 1965 graduate of Bush High School.

He moved to this community in 1966. Al served in the Army National Guard for seven years. He retired from the Richmond Baking Company, after 30 years of service.

Al was an avid UK fan and jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, gardening, woodworking, creating copper trees, helping others, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Darlene Walton Cheek; daughters, Kephanie Jackson of London, Kentucky, Kristal (Matt) Campbell of Decatur, Texas, and Michelle (Joe) Becknell and Tracey Jellison, both of Richmond; sons, Kevin (Vanessa) Cheek of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Rickey (Rachel) Dunn of Liberty, Indiana; grandchildren, Devin (Kelsey) Cheek, Zackery Jackson, Marty Jones, Josh Becknell, Alyssa (Tyler Johnson) Grimes, Jonathan Jellison, Lanae and Lincoln Campbell, Cassie (Chris) Hubbard, and Tyler, Amanda, and Hannah Dunn; great-grandchildren, Maeve Cheek and Jillian Edwards; sisters, Naoma Viars and Omalee Hickman, both of Hamilton, Ohio, Wanda (Larry) Hunt of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Patricia (Tommy) Lawson of London, Kentucky; brothers, Denver (Brenda) Cheek of Greensburg, Indiana, and Delford (Bernice) Cheek of Hamilton; special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul (Mary Lou) Cheek, Don (Faye) Cheek, and Roger Cheek. Visitation for Albert Glenn “Al” Cheek will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Brett Karanovich and Pastor Rich Cheek officiating.
