Obituary for Robert B. Sickmann RICHMOND, Ind. – Robert B. Sickmann, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, November 16, 2018, at his home. Born November 18, 1932, in Richmond, Indiana, to Howard J. and Miriam Little Sickmann, Bob was a 1952 graduate of Richmond High School.

He earned his business degree from Indiana University in 1956, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. After graduating from IU, Bob served in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley in Junction City, Kansas, for two years. He married Jean Sallust, who he met in college, on July 6, 1957.

Throughout his career in store management with Montgomery Ward, Bob and his family lived in 15 cities in seven different states, making each one a home for their four children. In 1983, Bob returned to his hometown of Richmond, where he owned and managed the Clothes Closet. Bob was a strong supporter of the city of Richmond.

His grandfather, O.H. Little, was honored with his name on the livery stable at the Wayne County Historical Museum. In retirement, Bob devoted much of his time caring for the Richmond Rose Garden. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, the Blue and Gray Civil War group, and was a 48 year member of the Kiwanis Club.

Bob’s other interests included sailing, traveling, following the stock market, and watching IU sports. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Sallust Sickmann; children, Karen (Bill) Saunders, Nancy Tyler, and Suzanne (Pete) Pemantell; grandchildren, Alex and Maddy Saunders, Mariah (Alex) Frey, and Taylor, Ashley, and Emma Pemantell; great-grandson, Zedekiah Frey; sister-in-law, Ginnie Sickmann; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Scott Sickmann; grandson, Trent Saunders; parents; and brother, Jack D. Sickmann.

Memorial gathering for Bob Sickmann will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond with Pastor Tom Ream officiating. Private burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery.
