Albertha Washington April 16, 1928 – December 30, 2018 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences On April 16, 1928, Albertha Washington was born to parents, James Washington and Carrie Johnson in Pineville, South Carolina. In 1986, Albertha Washington married Henry Amevor and they resided in Manhattan, New York. Albertha was a loving mother to all of her children, the late Sammy Washington, Deborah Washington, Nadine Washington, the late Lorraine Washington (father, Samuel McKnighty); and the late Arthur James Washington, Lavenia Washington, Shirley Washington, Eddie Lee Washington, and John Washington (father, James Sander).

Albertha always had a big heart, she loved to take care of others and their children. She opened up her home to everybody that came to her for help. She took in Crystal Watson “Poo” as her own child and raised her.

BOY ALBERTHA SURE COULD COOK A MEAL, she would feed everyone. Albertha was also a fighter, she was feisty until the bitter end. Albertha was a dedicated mother to all of her children and she also raised a host of others.

She would work two jobs just to take care of all her children. She joined Downtown Baptist Church in 1989 and was a member there until she became ill in 2008. Albertha is preceded in death by her grandchild, Calvin James Golden; and sister, Marie Williams.

She leaves behind: her grandchildren, Veronica Washington, Kevin Washington, Eric Washington, Tisa French, Shakia French, and Corey Pope; fifteen great grandchildren; siblings, Alonzo Bulter, Elijah Bulter, and Carrie Jefferson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
