DUTHIE, age 86, of Glen Rock, NJ Passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1932 He came to America in 1934 and grew up in NYC He became a U.S. citizen on April 1, 1949 Enlisted in U.S. Airforce during the Korean War (1951 -1955) In 1955, attended Academy of Aeronautics in Long Island City Worked at Bendix Corp. in Teterboro, NJ Married Joyce Guide of Glen Rock on Oct. 29, 1960 Joyce and Al were loving parents of 4 children, Kevin & Diann (twins), Nancy & Barbara.

In 1970, Al became partners with Don Guide (Joyce’s Brother) of Glen Rock’s Oil Company named Inter City Oil. On May 20,1984, he remarried Barbara Moorhouse of Verona, NJ and helped raise her boys, Michael, Steven & John, who became Al’s stepsons. Barbara passed away 20 years later on January 12, 2004.

Al then worked for Home Fuel Oil Co. in Glen Rock. He retired to Glen Courts Senior Citizen Center, Glen Rock & later moved to Paragon Village in Hackettstown, NJ. Family & Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Wednesday, December 12th from 7pm to 9pm at C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home Ridgewood, NJ.
