Alexander “Alex” Curtis Swearengin, 24 of Newport, Oregon passed away July 2, 2018. He was born June 21, 1994, in Lebanon, OR to Stuart and Amy (Buzzell) Swearengin. Alex was a student in the Aquarium Science Program at Oregon Coast Community College.

He was a volunteer diver and loved giving his time to the Aquarium, taking care of marine life, the ocean and teaching others how to care for it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His son was his most precious gift and loved spending time with him.

Alex was an Eagle Scout and PADI Divemaster. He married Michaela Marie Edmunds on August 4, 2012, in Dorena, OR. Alex is survived by his wife Michaela, Newport, OR, parents, Stuart and Amy Swearengin, grandparents, Janice and DeWayne Buzzell, Jeralee Swearengin, son Landon Michael Swearengin, Newport, OR, sister Jaydene and brother Lucas Swearengin both of Cottage Grove, OR.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday July 11, 2018, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cottage Grove, OR. Private burial at Walker Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established at Banner Bank.

Contributions may be made at the Cottage Grove and Creswell Branches. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7th St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
