Alexandria (Lola) Battee Thompson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6th surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 22, 1937 in White Plains, N.Y. to the late Mary Symulevich Battee and Ernest Leon Battee. Lola’s family moved to Stamford when she was a year old.

She graduated from Stamford High School in 1955 and continued her education at Merrill Business School. She worked at AMF as an executive secretary and appeared in commercials and print ads as a model. Lola then changed her career path to work at the Stamford Hospital for 31 years in maternity, pediatrics and the billing department until her retirement in September 2001.

Lola loved helping family and friends. She volunteered at the Smith House, the Tandet Center and at Stamford Hospital. She was also a member of the Columbiettes, the St. Mary’s Seniors, the St. Mary Rosary Society and the Senior Center at the Stamford Government Center.

In the summer you could find her at Cummings Beach, walking at Cove Island or at her sister Judy’s pool. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers Ernest Battee (Elaine) and Ralph “Butch” Battee (Sharon), a niece Linda Battee and former husband and friend, John “Jack” Thompson. She is survived by her sister Judith Vartuli (Frank); her children Doreen Reichard, Mark Thompson and Susan Thompson; grandchildren Leah, David, Sarah, Jonathan, Mark, Chatham and Bailey; and great grandson, Luke James as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Special thanks to her wonderful sister Judy Vartuli, and dear friend Pia DeLuca. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 11th from 2pm to 6pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave. , Stamford, CT 06902.

A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, November 12th at 12pm noon at St. Mary’s Church, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford. The interment will immediately follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers donations in Lola’s memory may be made to the Stamford Hospital Foundation, 1351 Washington Blvd.
