Obituary for Alice Buckner Johnson Alice Buckner Johnson, age 92, went home to her eternal home on Friday, December 7, 2018 from Riverwalk Community Residence in Evansville. A native of Owensboro KY, she was the daughter of Harry and Carrie Buckner. In 1941, Alice married Harold Johnson.

To this union, 13 children were born. Alice worked for Deaconess and CAPE and retired from the Evansville Rescue Mission. She was a devout founding member of First Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served in the soup kitchen and served on the Mother’s Board.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and children: Etta Shavon Gilford, Ronald Lee Johnson, and Carrie Elaine Johnson. She is survived by 10 children: Harold Douglas Johnson, Jr., Terry Tyrone (Arma Dean) Johnson of Cortland IL, Gary Preston (Glenda) Johnson, Ladonna Faye Dabbs, Dennis Darnell Johnson, Pamela Yvette Johnson, Denita Gayle (Hank) Miles, Peggy Denise Johnson, Angela Arlene Johnson, and DeCarlo Marvel Johnson; a host of grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Services will be Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1:00pm at First Ebenezer Baptist Church, 518 South Linwood in Evansville with same day visitation from 11:00am until service time, also at the church.
