Obituary for Alice Geraldine Rhodes Alice Geraldine Rhodes June 3, 1929 – March 10, 2018 It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Alice Geraldine Rhodes. Geraldine “Granny” went home Saturday the 10th of March at her daughter’s home in Premont, Texas. Our family is honored to have had this wonderful woman in our lives for 88 years.
Her caring and generous love will be missed and always cherished. Geraldine was born in Keota, Oklahoma on June 3, 1929 to Fredie Claborne and Sada Lynn Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Lynn Rhodes, Mary Louise Davis, Eldon Rhodes, Marjorie Rhodes, Raymond Rhodes, Curtis Rhodes, Doyle Rhodes, Leslie Rhodes, and her son-in-laws Harlow Kibbe and Mike West.
She is survived by her brother Carl Rhodes, her children Debbie West, Susan Kibbe, Paula Knolle (Dwight) and her son Dean Johnson. Granny is also survived by her grandchildren Clint West (Gina), Sarah Reynolds (Josh), Ross West (Stephanie), Justin Kibbe (Fawn), Hayley Engelking (Grady), Lacy Kibbe, Nicole Coates, Emily Schroeder (Justin), Sebastian Coates, Katy Jordan (Garrett) and Aubrey Moore (Dennis). In addition, she was blessed with 18 great grandchildren Hunter West, Ella West, Emme West, Jentry Harbert, Chesna Harbert, Anna Harbert, Briley West, Conner West, Stanton West, Walker Kibbe, Clayton Kibbe, Wyatt Kibbe, Sada Engelking, Henry Engelking, Layton Tucker, Whitt Schroeder, Gage Jordan and Emry Coates.
Geraldine was a school teacher, who taught for 28 years. She began teaching briefly in Portland, Taft, Flour Bluff, and then spent the duration of her career in Premont, Texas. A graveside service will be held Monday March 12th, at the Raymondville Cemetery at 10:30 a.m., followed by a life celebration at the Church of Christ located on 750 South 9th Street (9th & Norman) Raymondville, Texas.
