Allen J. Hatzel, age 67 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Heartwood Lodge surrounded by his family. He was born on October 13, 1951 in Newark, NJ to Russell and Mary (Crispina) Hatzel. Allen married Nancy Routledge on June 23, 1973 in Parsippany, NJ.

Allen worked as a decorated Sheriff’s Deputy for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, was raised in the Catholic Church and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Al was a welcoming, loving and happy person who would make anyone feel like they were family. He loved his life, his family and would selflessly do anything to bring happiness and joy to others.

He will be forever remembered for his dedication to his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 45 years, Nancy; sons, Brian (Gayle) Hatzel of Grand Haven and CJ (Kirsten) Hatzel of Chuluota, FL; grandchildren Alyssa, Justin, Kayla, Peyton, and Cole Hatzel; goddaughter Loran Johnston and her family; brothers Russell (Barbara) Hatzel, Michael (Pat) Hatzel, Donny (Susan) Hatzel; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartwood Lodge Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.
