Obituary for Alva Gene Marler Alva Gene Marler of Ironton, MO passed away on September 5, 2018 at the age of 86 years, 10 months, 18 days. He was born on October 18, 1931 in Pilot Knob, MO a son of the late Oscar Elbert and Lola Mae Parton Marler. On February 2, 1952 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Phegley Marler who survives.

To this union four children were born; James and wife Shirley Marler of Arcadia, Dennis Marler of Fredericktown, Kevin Marler of Ironton, and Kathy Pollock of Parkhills. Also surviving are one sister June Mayes of Pilot Knob, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Preceding Gene in rest are his parents, 2 grandchildren Mendy and Joseph(JD), one son-in-law Dan Pollock, his sister Helen, Nelda, Patsy and his brothers Paul, Kenneth, Dale, Edward and Donald.

Gene, as everyone knew him by, graduated from Ironton High School. Gene served his nation during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy with two tours in Korea. He worked in the mining/ construction industry before retiring.

He was a member of the stouts creek Baptist Church. Funeral Services for Gene will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the the Stouts Creek Baptist Church. A visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:00 am.

Pastor Mike Hagerty will be officiating the funeral services. Interment will be held in Woodlawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Stouts Creek Baptist Church.
