Alvin’s Obituary Alvin LeRoy Dittmar, former rural Oconto resident, passed away December 2, 2018 at Cozad Care Center at the age of 84. Alvin was born at Callaway, Nebraska on December 13, 1933, the second of two sons, to Albert and Anna (Schroeder) Dittmar. He was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church on April 8, 1934.

Alvin attended school at District 231 in southern Custer County. He went to the First Lutheran School of Buffalo, for 7th and 8th grade, where he also received Confirmation instruction. He was Confirmed on May 9, 1948 at Christ Lutheran Church.

He was a member at Christ Lutheran Church until services were discontinued on January 1, 1958. At this time he transferred to First Lutheran of Buffalo, and has had membership there ever since. Alvin was assistant organist and held various offices over the years.

After school, Alvin remained on the home place. He farmed and raised cattle with his father. They also did custom farm work.

In later years, he was involved in custom fence building with a partner. Alvin lived his entire life on the family farm in rural Custer County near Oconto, in the area formerly known as Buffalo. This was where Alvin called home until he moved to Cozad Care Assisted Living in March of 2017.

He remained there until he was called to his heavenly home. Alvin was a quiet Christian man, who always looked out for his friends and neighbors. He had a good heart and a love for the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anna Dittmar; his brother, Lawrence Dittmar; and sister-in-law, Elva (Brown) Dittmar. He is survived by his nephews and niece and their spouses, David L. and Arlene Dittmar of St. Louis, Missouri, Gary D. and Emma Dittmar of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rhonda R. (Dittmar) and Mark Stokebrand of Exeter, Nebraska. He is also survived by great- nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews as well as many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.

Services will be Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Buffalo, north of Lexington. Burial is at Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
