Alyce’s Obituary Alyce Marie Barnett, 88 years old, from Kansas City, Kansas, and Valdosta, GA, went to be with the Lord on the morning of March 7,2019, at the Hospital in Thomasville, outside of Valdosta, GA. She passed away after a short illness. Alyce was born May 9, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas, To Clarence Williams (Deceased) and Dorothy (Crawford) Burt (Deceased).

She was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, where she met her husband of 59 years, William B. Barnett (Deceased). They were united in marriage on July 20th, 1949, in Miami, OK. From this union 5 children was born.

Worth, TX, Claudine D. Barnett, Kansas City, KS. She has 10 Grandchildren, numerous Great-grandchildren and Great-great-grandchildren. She has 2 Siblings, Willa M. Petty, Kansas City, KS, and Patricia Burt (Deceased).

There are also nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends. And we can’t forget her puppy, “Dimples” Alyce attended 4 Schools of higher Education: Donnelly College in KCK, St Mary’s College in Leavenworth, KS, and the University of Kansas, in Lawrence. She obtained several AA Degrees and 2 Masters in Psychology and Sociology.

And at age 87, she graduated from J&E Ministry for Christ College, earning an AA in Biblical Studies. She never stopped seeking education. She was a lifetime nurse, holding many positions.

She worked and the ER at the University of Kansas Medical Center, private duty, and was a charge nurse at several facilities. Alyce enjoyed her walk with Jesus, being with family, fishing, horseback riding, Bingo and numerous other things. She touched many people’s lives and had a strong impact on the community, being on the Board of Directors of Turner House, in KCK.

She had the responsibilities of clothing and food distribution to the less fortunate. Alyce had a great sense of humor and loved to kid around. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William B. Barnett, a sister Patricia Burt, and beloved granddaughter On’gele M. Barnett.

The Barnett and Petty family would like to thank you for your condolences, prayers, kindness and considerations during this time. We also want to thank Pastor Gerald Ballew and the Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church for the generous use of their facilities. If I could give three words that would sum up the life of Alyce Marie Barnett, they would be: NEVER GIVE UP!
