Amelia Baldwin Beard, 80, wife of the late Donald D. Beard, died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at her home, after an illness. Mrs. Beard was born on October 12, 1938 in Florence County, daughter of the late John Kelly Baldwin and Cecil Matthews Baldwin. She was a longtime member of Matthews Tabernacle where she was a devoted prayer warrior and Mama to everyone.

Mrs. Beard was a retired dietitian at Florence School District 3. Surviving are her children, Stevie “Puddin” (Mae Dean) Beard, Barbara “Babbie” Hardy, Clara Beard and Spencer Beard, all of Lake City; grandchildren, Dion, Lindsey (Bryan), Derick(Tonya), Kasey(Matthew), Knoeal and Gage; great grandchildren, Kaydin, Kenleigh, Kingsley, Campbell and Lexi. Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Stanley Baldwin, John Kenneth Baldwin and Harley Baldwin; sisters, Irma Clara Baldwin, Viva Lee, Glenda Swails, Marjorie McDonald and Joan Marie Ussery; and great granddaughter, Addison McKenzie McCutcheon.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Matthews Cemetery, Lake City. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care and concern. Memorials may be made to Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1249 N. Matthews Road, Lake City, SC 29560.
