Angelita Avina, 60, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. She was born August 22, 1958 in Geneva, Illinois to the late Mauricio and Maria (Arizpe) Vega. On October 23, 1973, Angelita married Miguel Avina, who survives in South Bend.

Also surviving are two sons, Joe Avina and Miguel Avina, Jr.; five grandchildren, Luis Avina, Yelexis Avina, Josfa A. Garza, Joe Avina and Kaitlyn Avina; two great-grandchildren, Amirlkal Avina and Danielle Avina; five sisters, Elva Camero, Helen Jackson, Josie Repczynski, Oralia Blad, and Emma Castanera; three brothers, Max Vega, Maricio Vega, and Joe Vega; and nieces who were more like sisters, Maria Balint, Rose Gonzalez, Susie Burgos, Janie Rodriguez, Marlene Hernandez, and Sandra Carrillo. She is preceded by two sisters; Candelaria Rodriguez and Edna Martinez; two brothers, Guadalupe Lopez and Manuel Lopez; and a very special aunt, Dolores Reyes. Angelita adored her grandchildren and family.

She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, and loved her dog and faithful companion, Lucky. A memorial service will be held at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614 on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11 AM. Friends may gather with the family from 10 AM until the time of service.
