Obituary for Anne Bowman Margrave Anne Bowman Margrave was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ September 1, 2018. She was born September 25, 1926 in the New Hope Community of Rockwood, Tennessee to Samuel Lewis Bowman and Lola Crouch Bowman. While living on the family farm she graduated from Roane County High School and worked at J C Penney where she met her future husband Robert (Bob) Margrave.
They were married in 1947 after WW II and spent most of their 69 years together working side by side serving the community at Margrave Drug – the quintessential “little drug store” in Harriman. She had many loves including family, friends, food and football. But her number one love was Jesus.
He was her reason for life and gave her great joy. Faithful to his word she taught Sunday School at Trenton Street Baptist Church for many years – we called her a “Gleaner for Life”. She wanted everybody to know and love her Jesus!
She was preceeded in death (or life as she would say) by her parents Lewis and Lola Bowman; husband Robert Margrave; brother Warren Bowman; sisters Jean Bowman, Mary (Tee) Alexander, Ina Bowman Oran; niece Kathy Cole; and Eddie Rudder of Knoxville. She is survived by her Sister, Eleanor Crabtree; Daughters Paula Margrave and Gwen Simmons; Grandson Wes (Nancy) Simmons of Auburn, AL. ; Grand Daughter Jordan Gilligan of Alpharetta, GA.
; Great Grandchildren Emily Simmons, Katherine Simmons, and Emmett Gilligan; Brothers In Law Bennie Alexander, Tway Oran, and Harry Margrave; Nephews Steve (Flo) Bowman, and Benjamin Alexander; Nieces Tammi (Alan) Fowler, Robin (Scott) Leffew, Vicki Rudder, and Pat (George) Schmidt; Great Neices and Nephews – Brandy Rudder, Beau Rudder, Joseph Bowman, Zane Leffew, and Jacob Leffew. God’s Special Blessing to momma, daddy, and our family – Diane Turpin. The Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 5th from 10 am to 11 am at The Trenton Street Baptist Church in Harriman.
Funeral Services will follow @11 am also at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Bowman-Evans Cemetery. Memorials can be given to Trenton Street Baptist Church – Haiti and India Missions, RUF Ministries Auburn, AL.
