Obituary for Anthony “Tony” Amato IV Anthony (Tony) C. Amato IV of Wallingford, CT passed away at the age of 66 on June 2, 2018 in the caring hands of Middle hospice in Middletown, CT. Born in Hartford CT on December 11, 1951, he was the son of late Anthony C. Amato II and Eleanor D. (Sapia) Amato. He was raised in Meriden, CT and attended Platt High School.

Tony is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Air Force. Tony loved the outdoors, camping and fishing being some of his favorites, along with coaching softball and soccer, riding his Harley whenever he got the chance. Tony was a car enthusiast as well.

Tony is survived by his six children, Anthony & Abigail Amato V of Ina IL, Renee & Karl Ruquist of Plainville CT, Jennifer & Wesley Smith of Manhattan KS, Stephanie & Brian Cohane of Guadalupe Mountains National Park TX, Crystal Lynn & Eric Badeau of Manchester CT, and Timothy James & Ashley Amato of Middletown CT. His sister Barbara & James Yankauskas of Atlantic Beach NC, his brother Robert Amato of Meriden CT and twin brother Francis Amato of Florida. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews and countless other family members.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter Tabitha Amato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 7th at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT on Wednesday, June 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in his honor may be made to The CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111 USA.
