Obituary for Harold “Buzz” Mathers Sr. Harold L. “Buzz” Mathers Sr., 86, husband of Virginia (Urbano) Mathers passed away on June 29, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Glenburn, PA on August 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Harold and Doris Mathers. Buzz resided in Meriden for most of his life and attended Greenfield High School.

Buzz was employed by Kessler Construction in Hartford, CT for 33 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. Buzz was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.

Buzz enjoyed repairing cuckoo clocks and building dollhouses. He owned a dairy farm with his father and liked spending his winters in Florida. Most of all, Buzz loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Paul) Grisko, Lillian (James) Harriott and Magda (Paul) Magnotta; three sons, Bill (Jodi) Mathers, Harold (Kathy) Mathers and Sandor (Linda) Nemeth; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and three sisters, Audrey Wilmarth, Marilyn Ross and Kathryn Berry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Buzz was predeceased by his son, Janos Z. Nemeth and his brother, Howard Mathers.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Monday, July 2nd at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Parish, St. Stanislaus Campus. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden on Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass and burial.
