Obituary for Arvel “”Red”” Gowen Arvel “Red” Gowen Sr., 79, of Piedmont, MO, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Home. He was born in Piedmont, MO on April 13, 1939, to parents Samuel and Elsie Faye (Smith) Gowen. Red was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In his younger years, he played drums in a band, however, he was known for his ability to play the spoons. He enjoyed the outdoors, sitting around a campfire and fishing. Red owned his own business as a commercial painter and enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by brothers: Pete, Jerry and Bill Gowen; sisters: Annie Esterline and Mary Brinkley. He is survived by his children: Arvel Gowen Jr. and wife Misty of Boaz, KY, Kathy Trimble and husband Roy of Wickliffe, KY, Cheryl Gowen of Boaz, KY; grandchildren: Tara Fulmer and husband Brian, Brittany Clark and companion Richard Keyser, Tayler Elder and husband James, Dillon Gowen, Katlin Gowen, Preston Gowen; great-grandchildren: Emrie Fulmer, Fraya Gowen and Ceyenne Elder; brothers: Sam Gowen and wife Mary of Piedmont, MO, Albert Gowen and wife Faye of Salem, MO, Jim Gowen of California. Elsie Hampton of Piedmont, MO and many friends.

Visitation will be at 11:30 Monday, October 22, 2018 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm also at the chapel. Burial will be at the Anderson Cemetery, Piedmont, Mo.
