Barbara Lou Gibbs (née, Steenbergen) 80, of Porterville, passed away on May 27, 2018 in Fresno, CA. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Friday, June 1 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Porterville with Grover Leathers officiating. Arrangements are by Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center.

Barbara was born in Coolidge, AZ to Beulah and Jesse Steenbergen on May 3, 1938. She went to school in Pixley and Tulare. She married Kenneth Gibbs on July 13, 1956 in Tulare, CA.

She worked both on the fields and caring for her children for many years. She survived the end of the Great Depression as well as WWII. She was very devoted to her faith.

She believed strongly in the strength of hard work and the determination of each individual. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Beulah and Jesse as well as her three brothers, William, Billy, and Richard. She is survived by her son David Gibbs, her daughter Linda Jeffries (née Gibbs), and her grandchildren: Cris, Rebekah, Kayleigh, and Kyle.

The family of Barbara wishes to thank the Neuro ICU at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for all their care and compassion.
