Our beautiful, angelic, beloved mother, grandmother, Tutu, and great grandmother, Barbara Elaine Marshall, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Born on January 24, 1930, Barbara was the only child of Adeline and William Sinkford. She was a generous and loving person.

Everyone she met quickly became a friend or part of her family. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved to vacation in Hawaii (as she pronounced it, “Ha VAI ‘i”). Barbara was passionate about civil rights and always stood up for what was right.

She spent most of her career in this role, as the Equal Employment Opportunity Officer for the Internal Revenue Service. Barbara is survived by four of her five children: Lynn, Armand, Tracey and Michelle. She joined her beloved son, Stevie, in Heaven.

Barbara also is survived by eight grandchildren: Shyla, Renaud, Evan, Jordan, Eli, Elayne, Luke, and Miles, as well as two great grandchildren: Hezekiah and Zephaniah. Barbara also is survived by her half-brother, William Sinkford, Jr. Barbara was a sweet, loving, kind and beautiful soul. Our hearts are broken at our loss, but we take comfort in knowing that she passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, and that she was loved and gave so much love to others.
