Benedict “Jay” Vincent Banaszynski, Jr., 60, Phelps, died Saturday morning, April 14th, 2018 surrounded by family members and was received into God’s loving arms, at home following a valiant two and a half year fight with cancer. Jay was born January 5th, 1958 to Benedict Sr. and Sandra (Krueger) Banaszynski. Jay grew up in the Pulaski area and attended Pulaski public schools, graduating from Pulaski High School with the class of 1976.

They raised three children (2 daughters, 1 son) and lived in Pulcifer for over 20 years. After their children were grown and starting families of their own, Jay & Anne moved up north to Phelps where the family enjoyed vacationing and camping every year.

Jay has lived in Phelps for the past 10 years and has worked for the town of Phelps for 6 years. Jay will forever be remembered as an amazing father, husband, grandfather, brother, and friend. He lived his life to the fullest and was always keeping himself busy.

He loved hunting and fishing along with tending his garden and working in his shop. Almost always you could find Jay with a smile on his face especially when spending time with his grandchildren and family and friends. Anyone who met him quickly gained an amazing new friend.

Jay had a very giving heart and would always help anyone who needed it. Survivors are his children, Son-in-law, Mike Kallies, Elizabeth & Mitchell, Oconto Falls; Daughter, Misty (Bradley) Reed, Tesia Banaszynski (Fond du Lac), Jaden, Damien, Jagger, Oconto Falls; Son, Kevin (Megan) Banaszynski, Danika, Hatley. His father, Benedict Banaszynski, Sr., Shawano; His older sister, Lyn Banaszynski, Bowler; His two younger sisters, Dawn Banaszynski, Shawano; Lauralee Banaszynski, Shawano; other special nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Banaszynski; his daughter, Kelly Kallies; and his wife, Anne Banaszynski. Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Twin Lakes Bible Church, in Phelps, until the time of service. Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Larry Bong officiating.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, your support and love is appreciated as we remember and celebrate Jay’s legacy.
