Obituary for Benny Ernest Berry Benny (Ben) Berry, 81, of Moreland, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018, after struggling with declining health. Ben died peacefully at his home where he was cared for by his wife of 51 years, Carol (Nee Landers) Berry of Miami Florida. He was born on December 28, 1937 in Guntersville, Alabama, to Ervin Berry and Lillian Berry (Nee Thomason), where he attended school.

After graduation, Ben took a job as a bank teller, but quickly discovered he wasn’t suited for that line of work. Ben enlisted and served 2 years in the US Army and 4 years in the USMC and was honorably discharged in 1963. Ben was employed by Eastern Airlines as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic, living in Miami and later moving to the Atlanta area.

Ben had aviation in his blood, as did his wife Carol. Ben earned the following FAA ratings / certificates, Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. As a COMMERCIAL PILOT, he achieved the rating Airplane Single Engine Land, Airplane Multiengine Land and Instrument Airplane.

Ben was also a Flight Instructor for airplane single engine. Ben and Carol owned 2 small airplanes throughout the years and enjoyed flying together. After leaving Eastern Airlines in 1989, Ben worked at Newnan Hospital maintaining the equipment there.

After retiring completely, he took an interest in woodworking and turned out many projects on his wood lathe. Ben was a collector of machines and machinery. His philosophy when it came to their repair or adjustments, was do the job right.

He will be remembered by his close friends as a kind, gentle and generous man, who was always happy to have them visit. A graveside service will be held at the White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery 2796 Gordon Road, Senoia, Georgia, at 3pm Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
