Bert G. Allen, Age 91, of Wilmington, OH, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born January 3, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH, son of the late Bertrum Wilbur & Zola (Gardner) Allen. On June 30, 1951 in Fayetteville, West Virginia , he married Betty Jo Frazier Allen, who preceded him in death on August 5, 2017.

Bert was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII having served in Naples, Italy during the war. He was a former Ohio State Highway Patrolman, and was retired as a salesperson for BHA Piano & Organ. Following his graduation from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Bert worked as a professional pianist with a jazz band and composed several songs.

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington and the Wilmington American Legion Post #49. He loved fishing and was an avid boater. Surviving are his children- Pam (Steve) Roe of Wilmington, OH, Mary Smith of Wilmington, OH, Debbie (Jim) Leonard of Boynton Beach, FL, David (Lyn) Allen of Cayman Islands, grandchildren- Jeremy (Nikki) Roe, Jamie Roe, Desiree Leonard Jenkins, Chase Leonard, Justin (Katie) Smith, Courtney (Stephen) Morgan, Aaliyah Allen, Zerah Allen, Zendaya Allen, & Aaron Allen, and great-grandchildren, Sophie Roe, Denae Jenkins, & Wayde Smith.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bert was preceded in death by his son, Mark Frazier Allen. Funeral Services will be held at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Josh Dixon and Everett Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Antioch Cemetery where the Wilmington American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends will be received on Thursday 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, OH . Contributions in Bert’s memory may be made to the Bible Baptist Church of Wilmington or Community Care Hospice.
