Bertha Lee Hooper Maddox, 76, of Grand Canyon Road, Kannapolis, NC passed away February 4, at Atrium Health – NorthEast. She was born December 19, 1942 in Chester, SC to the late Pearla Mae Hooper Owens. Bertha attended Chester High School and was formerly employed by Cannon Mills.

She was a member of New Beginnings Worship Center in Kannapolis. Services will be held Friday, February 8, at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 1:00 – 2:00 PM with funeral services following at 2:00 PM.

Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Maddox, Sr. Those left to cherish fond memories include three sons, Robert L. Maddox, Jr. (Amanda) of Concord, Ricky D. Maddox of Mooresville, Jonathan E. Maddox of the home; three daughters, Doris M Hooper, Priscilla M. Allison (John) both of Kannapolis, Robin A Johnson (Curtis) of Omaha, NE; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; uncle, Roosevelt Stokes of Kannapolis; companion, John Melchor, Jr.; sister-in-law, Maggie Maddox of Lincolnton; extended family John Melchor, III, Carla Walker (Matthew) Linda Melchor, Kelly Rose (Caleb) and a host of cousins and friends.
