Havies Wilkes, Sr., 92, of Evelyn Ave. , Kannapolis, NC passed away Friday, March 15, at Tucker Hospice House. He was born September 1, 1926 in Chester, SC to the late Dave Wilkes and the late Elizabeth Wright Wilkes.

Havies was educated in the Chester County School System and was a truck driver. He was a member of Marable Memorial AME Zion Church, where he served as Class Leader, Steward Board, President of the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee, Chaplain for the Salisbury District Board of Ushers, Chairman of the Transportation Committee for Board of Ushers. 33degree Mason, member of King David Grand Lodge, Great Nine Emeritus, King Uzziah Lodge of Landis, District Deputy of #3.

Services will be held Saturday, March 23, at Marable Memorial AME Zion Church. Visitation will be at 1:00 – 2:00 PM with funeral services at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Wilkes. Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Elizabeth J. Wilkes of the home; two daughters, Sarah Littles of Kannapolis, Aramethiea Murphy of Daytona Beach, FL; seven sons, Havies Wilkes, Jr., John Wilkes, Terry Lane Wilkes, Ronald Wilkes Bernard Wilkes all of Kannapolis, James Wilkes of Daytona Beach, FL, David Wilkes of Cleveland, OH; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
