The earthly life of our beloved Miss Clara Barger came to a close on Sunday, March 10, 2019 while a patient at the Greentree Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waterford, Connecticut. Born September 9, 1924 in Stanly County, North Carolina, Clara was the daughter of the late Ernest Barger and Bessie Freeman. We, her family and friends, pause to thank God for her life and legacy.

Her formal education was received in the public schools of Stanly County, North Carolina. As a young lady she moved to New London, North Carolina and later relocated to New London, Connecticut. She was a retired hairdresser and entrepreneur who owned many rental properties.

Family members who preceded Clara in death are a sister, Rachel Freeman Williams; a brother, Ernest Barger, Jr.; a niece, Annie Mae Williams Owens; a nephew, TC Marshall Owens; a great nephew, Teddy M. Owens; an aunt, Clara Barger; and an uncle, Fletcher Barger. Those who are heart broken and will cherish her memory forever are: great nieces: Teesia Z. Kendall, New London, North Carolina, Rachel Renee Williams, Badin, North Carolina, and Veda K. (Willis) Jackson, High Point, North Carolina; great nephew, Carlos B. Owens, High Point, North Carolina; nephew, Leon (Phyllis) Barger; special cousins: Clara Cole and Mable Christian, both of New London, North Carolina; four generations of nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Clara Barger graveside service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Oak View Cemetery, New London, North Carolina; public viewing will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Parkers Grove Baptist Church, New London, NC.
