Obituary for Betty H. Buirch Betty Buirch, of Pennsville, caught her breath and walked freely to the Lord on April 21, 2018. She passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side. Betty was born December 3, 1933 in Manistee, Michigan to Mattie and Lloyd Halstead.
Betty quickly found her way to New Jersey where she spent most of her school years at the family home in Deepwater. Betty always had fond memories of her teenage years. Memories would include; lifelong high school friends; working and playing at the Riverview Beach Park, as well as times with her brothers and sisters.
Betty was always proud to say she was a “Deepwater Girl”. In 1965, Betty married the love of her life, Millard Buirch. They would raise a family together until Millard’s passing in 2010 after 44 years of marriage.
Betty is the proud mother of Ed, Bill and Diane and especially loved being the grandmother of Christine, Tom, Andrew, Nicholas and Daniel. Betty worked at several places throughout her life to help support the family. She spent most of her working years as a seamstress.
A career was never her focus, her husband, her children, and the extended family were a lifelong priority. Betty rarely missed a family picnic, wedding, baby shower and sadly a funeral for her extended family from her brothers and sisters. Betty was the baby of her family and is the last of her siblings to pass.
She is predeceased by Evelyn, Lloyd, Martha, Clarence, Thorley, and Bob. Betty is survived by her: sons, Ed and his wife, Kathy Bowman, and Bill and his wife, Janeen; daughter, Diane Gagliardi; grandchildren Christine, Andrew, Nicholas and Daniel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 26, at the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 740 South Broadway, Pennsville, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service.
Burial will follow at the Fernwood Cemetery, Bridgeton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Betty’s memory to either the Salem County Humane Society, PO Box 214, Carneys Point, NJ 08069 or The Pennsville Fire and Rescue Company, 91 First St., Pennsville, NJ 08098. www.
