Betty Colleen Workman Hartter, 81, of Sabetha, KS, passed away February 10, 2019 at Sabetha. She was born February 12, 1937 near Salem, NE to Sam and Rachel (Lee) Mullins. Betty was a 1954 graduate of Stella High School at Stella, NE.

She married Harold Workman on January 17, 1954 becoming a farm wife and mother. Together they raised seven children. In the spring of 1977, Harold and Betty moved to the Sabetha area when they purchased Sun Springs Resort.

Harold suffered a fatal accident on September 10, 1977. Betty continued to run Sun Springs and worked at the Apostolic Christian Home as a CAN and CMA, moving to Sabetha in 1985. After taking classes through Highland Community College, she became a secretary for KANZA Mental Health.

Betty married Everett Hartter on June 10, 1988. They moved to Kansas City, MO in 1997 when Everett was relocated with Mid-American Dairy. Everett passed away May 23, 2000.

Betty continued her secretarial skills until retirement. She moved back to Sabetha in 2004 to be near her children and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed music and loved dancing with her husband, Everett.

She was skilled in playing the piano, organ and accordion. She used her talents performing gospel music with Harold and their children. They sang at rescue missions, nursing homes and churches.

Betty was a member of United Brethren in Christ church in Sabetha. She loved her Lord and those around her, especially the children. She served in many capacities which included playing the organ, participating in the missionary society and using her office skills to assist the pastor.

Betty is survived by her children Ilene (Paul) Huffman of Sabetha, Rhoda (Alan) Cox of Sabetha, Diana (Mike) Richey of Sabetha, Leah (James) Cochenour of Morrill, KS, Martin (Nita) Workman of York, NE, Sharyl (Frank) Dort of Rogers, AR, Darla (Mike) Peters of Parkville, MO, step-daughters, Mary Marie (Don) Ostrander of Independence, MO, Jackie (Richard) Arnold of Padonia, KS, 34 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, sisters, Alice (Page) Pickett and Alta Dau, and a brother, Loren (Iola) Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a brother, Paul Mullins and a sister, Ruth Bye. Her funeral will be held on on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Northridge Church at Sabetha with Pastor David Lockard officiating.

Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery at Shubert. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Northridge Church at Sabetha.
