BETTY J. SHUMAKER-FRYE, age 87, of Washington CH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington CH. She was born on July 21, 1930 in Highland County to Ralph and Vesta Pratt Shumaker. She was a graduate of Sabina High School.

Betty owned and operated Ritt’s Pizza for eighteen years. She had been a member at the Greenfield Church of Christ. Betty volunteered at the American Red Cross.

She enjoyed baking and sewing. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Dean Frye, whom she married on March 25, 1950; children, Larry Frye and Gary Frye; great-granddaughter, Marrie Benner; and brothers, Howard Shumaker and Bobby Shumaker. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Frye) and Chuck Harter; grandchildren, Matthew Frye, Bradley (Janet) Shaeffer, Mindy Frye, and Kelli Havens; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jessica, Audrey, Austin, Crayton, and Colton; great-great grandchildren, Jacob, Scarlett, and Meadow; and siblings, Michael Shumaker of Texas, and Carol Smith of Oregon.

There will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.
