WILLIAM “BILL” HENRY BENNINGTON JR. , age 77, of Bloomingburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 25, 1941 in Lebanon, Ohio to William Henry and Norma Mae Conner Bennington Howard.

He was a 1959 graduate of Simon Kenton High School in Lees Creek, Ohio. Bill proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired from the London Correctional Institution in 2003 after twenty-five years of service.

Bill was a longtime member of the Bloomingburg Presbyterian Church and had served as elder and deacon over the years. He enjoyed reading, traveling, bird-watching, gardening, and being with his family and grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Millard Howard; siblings, Robert Bennington, James Bennington, and Helen Bennington; and mother-in-law, Martha Sterling.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Bobbie Janice White Bennington, whom he married on November 27, 1965; children, Dawn (David) Kraynak, and Travis (Angela) Bennington; grandchildren, Hailey Bennington, Branden Haffner, Trevor (Mercedes) Bennington, Ethan Kraynak, and Emma Kraynak; great-grandchildren, Alexis Crane, and Jordan Bennington; siblings, Thomas (Rose) Bennington, and Sharon (Ronald) Palmer; father-in-law, R.B. (Christine) White; brother-in-law, Roy (Lan) White; sisters-in-law, Teri (Brad) Maust, and Tina (Dennis) Morris; and special cousins, Janet Stanforth, Rachel Matthews, and Sonny Williams. Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved church family. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev.
