DOROTHY SUE BARNES, age 83, of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Dahlonega, Georgia and Dublin, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born on February 21, 1935 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Orlo and Loretta Burrier Levan Burns Brown. She was a 1953 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids.

Dorothy was a stay-at-home Mom, raising her four boys. She has attended the Staunton United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing, dancing, bowling, playing poker, and had a special love for animals. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Walter W. Barnes; her second husband, J.C. Kelley; granddaughter, Nicole Barnes-McJunkin; and siblings, Robert Levan, Earl Levan, Margaret Daker, and Gean Guyot. Survivors include her children, Thomas F. (Ginger) Barnes, Eric W. (Martha) Barnes, John D. Barnes, and James W. Barnes; grandchildren, Jessica Barnes, Henry Barnes, and Audrey (Nate) Justice; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and siblings, David Levan, Linda Berry, and Francis Kuehn-Disbennett.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The memorial service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Webb officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
