Mrs. Betty Jo Wheeler, 81, of McDonough, GA. passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Wheeler was born June 22, 1937 in Kite, Georgia to the late James L. Price and Oris Tapley Price.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J. H. Wheeler, Jr.; brothers, Herman Price, Hubert Price and Monroe Price. Mrs. Wheeler moved to Adrian and then to McDonough in 2015. She worked for Rick’s Glass and Dr. Donald Kennedy in Adrian.

Mrs. Wheeler loved going to the lake and beach. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, making ceramics, cooking and gardening. Mrs. Wheeler was a very elegant dresser.

She was a member of Oak Chapel Baptist Church, and was attending Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. Survivors include her daughters, Vickie Wheeler of Atlanta, Frankie Wheeler Malone of Statesboro; sisters, Gratice Fortner and Joyce Moore both of Kite; grandchildren, Jessica Simmons (Brooks ) Collins of Twin City, Wes (Haley) Simmons and Ansley Malone both of Statesboro. Jolie of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Cody Collins and Ashlyn Collins, both of Twin City, MaryLee Simmons and Maggie Simmons, both of Statesboro; special friends, Dottie Reed and Rhonda Pilzer of Atlanta, Louise Haywood of McDonough and Rosa Hill of Stockbridge; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 with Rev. Tommy Veal and Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 pm to 3 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Chapmen Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Wes Simmons, Cody Collins, Bruce Whitfield, Michael Wheeler, Omar Perez, Charlie Rowland and Dylan Price.
