Obituary for Betty L. Dorr Betty L. Dorr, 90, of Beloit, WI, died peacefully Monday, September 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, WI. She was born September 10, 1927 in Chicago, IL, where she lived until 1940. She completed grade school and high school in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

Betty returned to Chicago in 1946, and there she met and married Bill Dorr, Jr. in 1948. Betty was a lifelong joiner and server. Throughout her years in Beloit she was an active member of several organizations and clubs.

Shortly after moving to Beloit, she joined Newcomers Club and learned to play bridge. She went on to become a valued member of several bridge clubs. Betty was a St. Jude Catholic Church parishioner since 1952.

She joined Homemakers Club and Catholic Women’s Club, eventually serving as president for each group. She volunteered as a Badger Girl Scout Council troop leader for several years. For 20 years she was a “pink lady” for the Beloit Hospital Auxiliary.

Betty taught swim lessons at the YWCA for children with Down’s Syndrome and drove homebound parishioners to Sunday Mass at St. Jude’s. Survivors include her six children, Susan (Peter) Baker of Janesville, WI, Kathi (Mike) George of Chicago, IL, Pattie (Gary) Fowler of Madison, WI, Bill (Debra) Dorr III of Beloit, WI, Bob Dorr of Madison, WI and John (Karen Gliwa) Dorr of Evanston, IL; 12 grandchildren, Monica (Steve) Kubala, Christina (Tony Sanders) Betz, Alex and Adam George, Sara (Eric) Stienmetz, Jillian (Josh) Page, Christopher (Joni) Dorr, Phillip (Bernetta) Dorr, Michael (Jenny) Dorr, and Soren, William and August Dorr; 18 great grandchildren; and brother, Jerome Montgomery of Ottowa, Canada She was predeceased by her parents, husband of 66 years, Bill Dorr Jr., and brother, John Schreiber. The family wished to express their deepest appreciation to St. Elizabeth Manor and Agrace Hospice for their attentive care of their mother.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 737 Hackett St. Beloit, WI. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd. Beloit, WI assisted the family the arrangements.
