Betty L. (Kovacik) Deitering of Maple Grove Twp. passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Hospice House of Shiawassee County surrounded by her family. She was 75 years of age.

Betty was born in Saginaw on July 3, 1942 to Joseph and Rose (Maxa) Kovacik and was a resident of Maple Grove Twp most of her life. She was united in marriage to Norman H. Deitering on October 1, 1966. Betty was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove.

She was a Lab Tech at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw for many years. She volunteered at Owosso Memorial Hospital, the Cancer Center in Owosso and the S.P.R.E.D. Program of Maple Grove. Betty enjoyed dancing, shopping, sewing, traveling, music and spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Cheryl Cooper of TN, Chad (Linda) Deitering of Lapeer, Curt (Julia) Deitering of CA, and Crissy Deitering of Chesaning; grandchildren: Latisha (Chad) Nugent, David Goward, Charlie Deitering, Mariah Castillo, Matthew Deitering, Natalie Deitering, Alexander Deitering, Jessica Deitering, Nicholas Deitering and Sophia Deitering; siblings: Sharon (James) Gross, Jan (Ron) Wendling, and Sue Wendling; many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Norman Deitering on April 9, 2001; and special friend Don Hart. Msgr Jerry Vincke and Fr.

John Cotter will con-celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning.

A Vigil service for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Her family will be present at the church to welcome relatives and friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass at 11 a.m. Charitable donations can be given in memory of Betty to Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
