She is a lung cancer survivor of 1997, but it returned just months ago of which she could not overcome this second time around. Beverly always insisted the departure from this life to be simple, low key ceremony at the graveside.

This memorial service will be conducted by Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb at the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Greensburg Road west of Summit on Tuesday February 26, 2019 at 2 PM. Pastor Jared Leonard will preside. She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, in 1947, the daughter of Raiford and Annie Jo Watson Branch.

She grew up attending the First Baptist Church of her home town. In 1965, she was a participant of the Miss Mississippi Pageant in Vicksburg. Upon graduation from MSCW where she belonged to the Rogue Social Club, she taught school for one year in Aberdeen, MS, before she accepted a position with the state.

Living in Jackson, she was a supervisor of the Disability Determination Unit for nearly thirty years. Beverly married Sydney Lundy Jones in 1974, and they had one child, son Bryan, in 1978. Sadly the marriage ended in 1989.

Upon retirement in 1997, she moved to Southwest Mississippi to live near the old family farm, just down the road and across the field from her only sibling, brother Ray. Her favorite hobbies were digging in flower beds, planting trees, mowing her rather large yard, and of course, her cats. She was always quick to rescue the unfortunate and abandon kittens.

She also considered all of the children listed below, hers as well, and quickly adopted the name of auntie Bees. She was a sweet and loving person. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Bryan, and his wife Rebecca, her grandson, Barrett Branch Jones and granddaughter to be, Gwin Sydney Jones, due in April this year. They live in Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her brother Ray Branch and his wife Vickie, of Smithdale, as well as their children, Zachery and (Annie) and daughter, Isabella of Hattiesburg, Hillary and (Mark) Mathis and children, Mary Evelyn and Harrison of Midland, Texas and Samuel and (Ashley-Kate) also of Hattiesburg.
