City. William Ray Kennedy was born October 11, 1951 in Purcell, OK, the 5th of 8 children born to Claude Douglas Kennedy and Dorothy Agnes (Shea) Kennedy.

Bill was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell schools. He learned the value of hard work at a very young age, and worked a variety of jobs to help his family. On June 3, 1972 at Union Hill Baptist Church, Bill married his best friend and life partner, Miss Dorothy Sue Riggle.

They built their life together in Wayne, raising 3 sons, Chad, Greg and Clent. Bill was a hard worker, and spent many years as a welder in the oil field and later built fence. He was a self-taught, jack of all trades, and could build or create anything.

He was a man of his word and he instilled life lessons of character, integrity and work ethic in his boys. Bill was a giving and generous man, and he believed in giving back to his community. He was an avid supporter of Wayne Little League, and served as officer and in many other capacities.

His contributions to Wayne Schools, from the gates and fences to the bleachers, will be remembered for generations. Bill cherished Dorothy and his boys, and was a proud Papa to 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Yet his greatest legacy will be his faith.

Bill loved the Lord and he served with his whole heart. He was a good man and a better friend, and he will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: His parents, Claude and Dorothy Kennedy; Sister, Judy Coffey and Brother, Larry Kennedy.

Bill is survived by: His wife, Dorothy, of the home; His boys, Chad Kennedy and wife Marianne of Lexington, Greg Kennedy and wife Kaylen of Purcell and Clent Kennedy and wife Amanda of Rosedale; 3 sisters, Helen Wentz and husband Ed of Conway, Arkansas, Brenda Sadler of Okla. City and Pam Godwin and husband Jim of Springer, OK; 2 brothers, James Kennedy and wife Sue of Canton, OK and Doc Kennedy and wife Dafney of Wayne; 9 grandchildren, Kasie, Josie, Bailey, Rhett, Whit, William, Ethan, Elisha and Elan; 1 great granddaughter, Charlee and a host of other family and friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at the Union Hill Baptist Church near Purcell.

Burial will follow at the Hopping Cemetery in Wayne.
