Billie’s Obituary Billie Ann Stewart, 89, of Pampa, went to her heavenly home on March 18, 2019 in Pampa. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Stratford Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Curry, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gruver, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Billie was born February 3, 1930 in Kiowa, Kansas to Oma and Alice Riggenbach Ellison. She attended country schools until the 8th grade, then went to Stratford where she graduated in 1948.

She attended West Texas State University, graduating in 1954. She met the love of her life, Hugh Stewart, who was coaching basketball. They wed May 27, 1951 in Stratford and moved to Pampa in 2001.

He preceded her in death on September 19, 2009. Billie taught school in Armstrong for a year and then went on to teach at Sunray ISD for 28 years. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.

She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren with their activities. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Billie was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kurt Lee; and a brother, Donnie Ellison.

Survivors include two sons, John Stewart of Pampa, and William (Sparky) Stewart and wife Donna of Gruver; a daughter, Diane Stewart Lee and Elbre Hickerson of Perryton; three grandchildren, Krista Bramhall and husband Ryan of Manhattan, Kansas, Nikki Hart and husband Brady and Wade Stewart and wife Brooke, all of Gruver; six great grandchildren, Case, Ella, Bree, Mabrie, Rylan and Payton, and a great granddaughter on the way; and special friends, Debbie and Greg Davis of Pampa. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the Meredith Place and Accolade Hospice for their loving care of Billie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38106; or a charity of choice.
