Billy Ray Giesy February 20, 1928 – February 15, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Billy Ray Giesy, 90, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019, at his home. He was born February 20, 1928, in Burlington, the son of William J. and Mamie L. (Jones) Giesy. Bill grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School.

He served in the U. S. Army following World War II. He attended Kansas State University and earned a degree in Architecture. He was a life-long farmer and stockman, taking care of his livestock and farm land and was a good steward of the land.

In earlier years in the winters, when the farm work was slow, he would work for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita. He had served on the Board of Directors for the Farmer’s State Bank of Aliceville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edna Stephenson; his long-time companion, Erma Salava; and a niece, Renée Giesy Reece.

He leaves his brother, Jerry Giesy and wife Marilyn of Osage City, KS; his sister, Donna Kniss of Kansas City, KS; 8 nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
