Obituary for Bobby B. Nelson Bobby B. Nelson, 75, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Bob was born April 28, 1943, in Cape Girardeau to Rosco and Clola (Dewrock) Nelson. He served as a hand-to-hand combat instructor in the Marine Corps.

Bob and Martha Bradshaw were married Aug. 31, 1968. He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School as well as the Cape Area Vocational School.

Bob was a welder with the Missouri Dry dock for 20-plus years and later worked for the Craftsman Union in Cape Girardeau for 20 years. Bob was an avid lover of animals, hot rods and race cars. He later became a chaplain and was a kind and generous man.

He never met a stranger. He and his wife, Martha, opened their hearts and home to many people along the way. Bob lived for his family and left a lasting impression on many.

He always had a smile or a joke to tell. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha Nelson of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Charlotte Wildman, Wanda Nelson and Betty (Don) Mayberry; two sons, Jeff Nelson and Tim (Candi) Nelson; two grandsons, Tim (Beth) Nelson and Chase Nelson; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill Kramer, George and Ado Nelson, and a sister, Shirley Nelson. A farewell gathering to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Saturday at Christ’s Church of the Heartland, 720 Bertling St., in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Chaplain Terry Wildman officiating. A potluck dinner will follow at the church.
