OBITUARY Bobby David Gladden December 7, 1948 – July 25, 2018 Bobby David Gladden passed into God’s loving arms on Thursday, July 25, 2018, in Charlotte, North Carolina after a love filled life of 69 years. He joins his parents, Lorenzo Holland Gladden and Zelda Wilson Gladden, and his brother, Johnny Franklin Gladden who preceded him in death. Bobby leaves behind sisters, Joyce Keistler (Jack) of Charlotte, Nancy Hunt (Charles) of Monroe, and Carolyn Currence of Clover, SC; brothers, Junior (Karen) of Concord, William (Joyce), and Hubert of Charlotte, and Ronald of Midland.

Bobby is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially, David Hilton and Barry Baker who never missed visiting with Bobby on Tuesdays and Sundays. Bobby was sincerely devoted to Wilson Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the youth program there. He was a well-known “greeter” to members and visitors at his church.

He loved his Lord and his family. Bobby was a proud graduate of the first graduating class from Independence High School in 1967. From January 1969 – January 1971 he proudly served his Country in the US Army in Vietnam.

For many years, as a mechanic, always with a smile, Bobby promptly jumped in his wrecker or rollback and answered calls to “rescue” “disabled” vehicles. After suffering a stroke on October 30, 2009, Bobby made his home at the Brian Center Nursing Care – Shamrock. His love and kindness will be missed by those he leaves behind.

But in God’s loving arms, he is now joyous and free. Visitation with family and friends will be held at Wilson Grove Baptist Church in Mint Hill on Saturday, July 28, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, with a funeral service to remember the life of Bobby following at 11:00 am, with Rob Mariucci officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Bobby’s special friends, David Hilton, Barry Baker, nephews, Robbie Hunt and Donnie Smart, Ray Dold and Aaron Dold. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 1825 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215, or to Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
