Robert “Bob” Fuller Ellis, 78, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, with his family by his side. Bob was born on December 13, 1939, in West Point, Mississippi to Belinda Louise Johann and Raymond Fuller Ellis. He graduated as valedictorian from West Point High School.

He graduated with honors in Chemistry from Mississippi State University, then pursued graduate school at Georgia Tech specializing in Computer Science. Bob also served as a summer missionary for the Baptist Church in 1964. On June 4, 1966, Bob married Laura Elaine Brown in Spartanburg, SC.

They were blessed with three children: Michael, Eric, and Stephanie. He and Laura converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977 and were sealed as an eternal family in the Washington, DC LDS Temple a year later. An active member of the LDS Church, Bob served in various offices of the Priesthood (Elder, High Priest, Seventy) as well as various volunteer assignments, including Stake High Council Member and Genealogical Researcher.

He had a fervent love for genealogy. He spent countless hours researching family history and helping others to do the same. It was a joyous occasion when he could perform temple work for his ancestors.

Secularly, Bob worked as a computer programmer and data processing manager, and later taught computer programming at East Mississippi Community College. Bob treasured spending time assembling puzzles with his sweetheart and participating in activities with his family. Bob’s family was his #1 priority, and he loved each of his children and grandchildren dearly.

Surviving are his sweetheart of 52 years, Laura; children: Michael (Shoua) Ellis, American Fork; Eric (Liz) Ellis, Mantua; Stephanie Ellis, Ogden; eight grandchildren: Katherine, Bryce, Laura, Scott, Rowan, Grace, Jasmine, and Tenzin. Also surviving are his brothers, Edwin (Diane) Ellis, Starkville, MS, and Henry (Patricia) Ellis, Fayetteville, NC, and his sister-in-law, Virginia Ellis, West Point, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Clarice (Elton) Farrish and brother, John Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City South Stake Chapel, 865 South 300 West, Brigham City, Utah. Viewings will be Friday, June 22, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
