Obituary for Bonnie Lee Hayes (Hoover) Bonnie Lee Hoover Hayes, 89, most recently a resident of Union, SC and a lifelong resident of Elkview, WV went to her Heavenly Home on January 18, 2019 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hubert Willis Hayes and a son, Hubert W. Hayes, Jr. (Butch). Daughter of the late James Morgan Hoover and Josie Jane Moore Hoover.

She was born on February 11, 1929. Last of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Herbert and James “Buddy” and her two sisters, Eva Melton and Madelyn “Jack” Edens. Surviving family members include a daughter, Peggy Waller of Union, SC and two sons, Mike (Marty) of Pauline, SC and Mark (Letitia) of Union, SC.

She also has four grandchildren; Jodie Hayes Bowyer (Reid), Jaren Hayes, Zachary Hayes and Josie Hayes. Also bringing her a smile were her four great grandchildren, Karson and Kade, Hayes and Hudson Bowyer and an honorary grandson, Dr. John Merriman. She was a wife, homemaker, loving mother and grandmother and a community volunteer.

She was known for her generosity, her love of her WVU Mountaineers and cooking skills, especially her fluffy biscuits and delicious hot dog chili. A longtime member of the Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle, she faithfully served her church in many capacities, especially activities of the Ladies Circle. In addition to her church family she was loved by many.

Bonnie’s family would like to say a special thank you to Joe and Bambi Larch (and Jt and Courtney), Sheila Murdock and Sarah Igo for their long term love and assistance. Also a special thank you goes to the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospital (5North and Hospice House). Going home to her beloved West Virginia the family will receive family and friends at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Sunday, Jan.

20, 2019. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Frank Allen and Rev.

Reid Bowyer officiating. Burial will take place in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle Ladies Circle( PO Box 541, Elkview, WV 25071) or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House (686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303).
