Brady Whitson, 68, of Granite Falls, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at Duke University Medical Center. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Frances Hughes Whitson. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Susan Elaine Deyton; and, a brother: Ronald Lee Whitson.

Surviving are a son: Terry Whitson and wife, Angela, of Taylorsville; 3 grandchildren: Tyler Dockins, Kambryn Dockins and Francesca Whitson; 1 great granddaughter: Riley Grace Dockins; and, a sister: Regina Brown and husband, Steve, of Connelly Springs; uncles: Farrell Hughes and wife, Anna Lou, of Burnsville, and Lloyd Hughes and wife, Peggy, of Hickory. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2PM Friday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Charles Randolph, 591 English Road, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
