Obituary for Brenda Stroud (Smith) Brenda Lee Smith Stroud, of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Hyattsville and Silver Spring, MD, died on May 30, 2018 after a short illness. She was born on May 2, 1945 in Washington, DC to James Avery Smith and Mildred Frances Williamson Smith (both deceased), and was raised in Hyattsville, MD. She is survived by her husband Charles D. Stroud of Huntsville, AL; siblings James M. Smith and Candice A. Smith Gill ; stepchildren William Stroud and Neysa Stroud; step-grandchildren Elizabeth Cosser and Ashley Gayle; five great grandchildren; nephew Michael Smith; nieces Heather Smith Redding and Raia Gruetze; great-nephew James E. Smith and great-niece, Miriam Loy.

She was a graduate of Northwestern High School, Hyattsville, MD, and the University of MD. She lived for many years in Silver Spring, MD before migrating to Huntsville, AL with her 2nd husband, Charles. She had a long career with The Boeing Company, from which she retired in 2000.

She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Huntsville, AL. She had a family history and strong ties to Dividing Creek and the Northern Neck of VA, and was a patron of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock, VA. She was recognized for her service in Huntsville’s Early Works Society, as well as for many other charitable activities.

Her funeral service will be held at Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock, VA on Sunday, June 3, at 2pm, with interment following in the church cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held on a later date in Huntsville, AL.
