Born July 11, 1946, in Big Creek, MS, he was the son of the late Luss Dickey and the late Mary Shankle Dickey. Bruce was a 1964 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and was a member of the Laurel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Laurel, Mississippi.
Bruce and his wife, Patricia were married in 1977, and together they raised three wonderful children. Throughout his career he did many things. His family says he was a “jack of all trades”.
He spent time as an insurance salesman and was very successful. He was also a contractor, putting up metal buildings all over Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In the last 15 years or so, he ran the family vineyard in south Mississippi.
He loved to hunt and fish, and also trapping when they lived on the lake. Bruce was a peace loving man, and always said the blessing at family gatherings. In recent years, his favorite pastime was “talking trash” with his grandson.
A special memory he shared was how he taught himself to read the Bible at 6 years of age. Above all, his family meant the most to him. His life provided them with many great memories that will be cherished forever.
