CROSS PLAINS- Carl Nicholas Lochner was born on November 2, 1929, to Norbert Peter and Ella Sarah (Lamberty) Lochner. He lost his battle with dementia, pulmonary fibrosis and heart failure on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. His working career started as a farm hand on the Lamberty, Mack, Ryan and Schoepp farms.

A two-year interruption was taken to fulfill military duty by serving in the Marine Corps, from 1952 to 1954. In 1954, he started truck driving, advancing to heavy equipment plus quarry dynamiting and crushing.

Eventually he became manager in 1969, owner in 1981 and retiring in 1994 and selling Boehnen Inc. to his two sons in 2001. Surviving Carl is his wife, Darlene of 64 years; seven children, Linda (Andrew) Zauner, Cynthia (Wes Riding) Chester, Patricia (Bennett) Ballweg, Donna (James) Sutter, Dale (Mitzi), Diane (Dale) Rhodes, and Paul (Nanci); 20 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 19 of 20 great-grandchildren; seven of eight siblings of John and Ella Mack family; and five of six in-laws of the Roman and Bernadette Boehnen family. Preceding him in death were his parents; step-father; great-grandson; half-brother; mother-in-law; father-in-law; and sister-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday.

Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. There will be a luncheon to follow at church on Monday. Darlene will be forever grateful to Gerald and Doris for their unending support; Cheryl from St. Francis Xavier; friend, Donna, the orange team at Agrace HospiceCare; and Mary, from Home Instead, for their care during Carl’s illness.
