Obituary for Carlo G. Vagnini Carlo G. Vagnini, 82, husband of Rosemarie (Giacco) Vagnini, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and sister. Born in New Haven, Connecticut on December 31, 1936, he was the son of the late Aldo Vagnini and Evelyn Piersanti. He had resided in Meriden for 59 years.

Mr. Vagnini was the owner of Giacco’s Market for 25 years. He retired from Westside Market in 2015. He proudly served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.

He was a parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church. He loved horse racing, vacationing with his wife in Florida and was an avid Giants and Yankees fan.

He was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Randall Vagnini and his wife, Area, Carla Vagnini and James Vagnini; his four grandchildren, Nicole Tommasino, Daniel Vagnini, Lyndel Vagnini and Gina Vagnini (Helen); his great-granddaughter, Rose Najduch; his sister, Lillian Viele; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dino Vagnini.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral to be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Campus for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning prior to the Mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238.
