Nuch attended Mary Star and San Pedro High School and proudly served his country in the Army in Korea in 1951. Upon return he became a barber, working for his father-in-law, Ralph Gomes, at the little barber shop at 9th and Gaffey.

He found his lifetime career with the ILWU #13 where he was a proud member for 45 years, rising to the top as a crane operator for many years. He also became a lifetime member of San Pedro Elks 966. Nuch leaves behind his loving family and many, many good friends.

He went on many travel adventures with his best buddy, Johnny Cline, who affectionately called Nuch, “Pops”, including a visit to his native Italy to visit the home of his father. He loved the San Pedro Harbor, spending early mornings with Mike Albano and the gang at the fuel dock on the fisherman’s wharf and later with Tommy Amalfitano and the “gumbas” at the San Pedro Fish Market. Nuch had his reserved stool at many of the classic hang-outs of San Pedro; the Elk’s Lodge, Olsen’s,TC’s, Ports O’Call and Iron City.

He would always have a smile for everyone and especially a wink for the pretty ladies. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Little Company of Mary IC Unit and Johnny and Doris Cline for their care and kindness during a very sorrowful time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
