Carol Brines Ellington, 63, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at her daughter’s residence. Carol passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, with her daughter, Jessica, holding her hand, after a long battle with aggressive cancer. Carol was born May 1, 1955 in Concord, the only child, to the late Louis “Pete” and Mary Brines.

She graduated from Central Cabarrus High School, where she was an avid basketball player. Carol worked at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as well as Movie Lane in Mount Pleasant for many years. She loved doing for others, working in her flower beds, reading, watching movies and camping, but most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

Carol absolutely loved being a wife, Mama and Mamaw! Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Joe Ellington of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Jessica Mishak and husband, Robert of Gold Hill; daughter, Carrie Ellington of Mount Pleasant; 5 grandchildren, Haley McIntyre, Dylan Mishak, Katlyn Drye, Hayden Mishak and Ryleigh Mishak. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 11:45 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.

The memorial service will be on Wednesday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Ellington family.
