Mass of Christian Burial for Carol J. Craven, 71, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Scott Schilmoeller will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. She passed away from a prolonged illness on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Her time battling this illness was spent with many caring people. Carol was born July 25, 1946 in Wayne, NE to her parents Leonard and Dorothy Jo (Jensen) Andersen. She spent her childhood in and around the Winside area and graduated from Winside High School in 1964.
After graduating, she attended Norfolk Beauty College. She married Bernie Craven on May 27, 1967 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Randolph, NE and together had three children. They raised their family in Norfolk and were members of Sacred Heart Parish.
She focused her time and energy on being a devoted wife and mother and later returned to work in various positions that enabled her to work with and interact with people. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and attending their many activities. Carol had a broad range of interests and talents from sewing, making jewelry to refinishing furniture, even drawing up plans for many beautiful homes.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 51 years, Bernie and their children, Kris (Jerry) Yrkoski of Silver Creek, NE, Jeff (Sheila) Craven of Norfolk, and Ryan (Mandi) Craven of Omaha, eight grandchildren Hannah, Emma and Grace Yrkoski of Silver Creek, Jacob and Jenna Craven of Norfolk, and Carter, Mackinzie and Alexis Craven of Omaha, mother Dorothy Jo Andersen of Ft. Calhoun, brother Bob (Mary Lynne) Andersen of Ft. Calhoun, sister-in-law Judy (Jim) Huwaldt of Woodstock, GA, brother-in-law Rex Craven of Pierre, SD, nieces Micki (Tony) Hernandez, Teresa (Chad) Lake, Diane Olson, Brenda (Galen) Sevcik, and Deborah (John) Dunatov, and by many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Andersen and in-laws Angela and Ray Craven. Memorials requested to the family for future designation. There’s still time to send flowers to the Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:30 AM on May 21, 2018.
